Department of medicines is one of the pivotal departments of Dr. Hedgewar Hospital, which has made the institute proud over the last 25 years. It has developed from being only general medicine initially to include well equipped subspecialties now which includes: Critical care and Emergency Medicine, Endoscopies, Respiratory Medicine, and HIV medicine, Diabetology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, Dermatology, Psychiatry and Dietetics.

We provide round the clock services as indoor patient department and also in Intensive care unit& Emergency Medicine Services. The Nephrology Services has dialysis machine. Maintenance hemodialysis for chronic kidney disease and dialysis 24 hours dialysis service available for acute renal failure are done routinely under these services, O.P.D. Nephrology Consultation is also available. In Endoscopy section upeer GI scopy,  scleratherapy, band ligation and colonoscopyis done. In respiratory medicine subspecialty pulmonary function tests, rigid fibro optic bronchoscopy and O.P.D. consultation is available. Separate I.R.C.U. with invasive and noninvasive ventilation facility is available. For HIV positive patients O.P.D. and I.P.D. services are available. The necessary lab facility including testing for CD4 counts and viral load is done.

They are being treated effectively with anti-retro viral therapy. Special counseling sessions are arranged for patients and their relatives. For patients with Rheumatology complaints O.P.D. and I.P.D. services are available. The necessary lab facilities including special immunological tests are done routinely. Separate rehabilitation services in the form of occupational and physiotherapy are also available in the hospital. For Diabetic patients regular O.P.D. services and blood glucose and HBA1C checkup camps are done. Patients are educated about diet, exercise, foot care, complications and management of diabetes as well as hypertension, and lipid abnormalities. CGMS (Continuous Glucose Monitoring System) for better monitoring of patient is also provided.Proper and holistic diet advice is provided by dietetic services for these patients as well as for other metabolic disorders. Dermatology, Psychiatry Services isalso available in the hospital.

Garware wellness center is the state of art center for Preventive Health Checkup. It is a totally dedicated Centre for comfort and hassle free checkup. In this Centre executive health checkup and pre-employmentcheckups are done. Necessary life style modification advices are given by senior physician.

Teaching and theory program for DNB & CPS students from medicine department is conducted regularly.
